Autumn/Winter Styling with Simply Be : Review
Summer seems such a long time ago now, gone are the mild mornings and warm days. It’s time to be fully embracing the cool weather/winter wardrobe. I love a good winter wardrobe, I feel so much more comfortable in my boots, jeans, a thick winter knit and a good coat.
To help me prepare for the cooler days of late autumn/early winter I have teamed up with Simply Be who offered to send me a range of products to prepare me for the days of the chilly and soggy school runs.
When I go out shopping for clothes nowadays I can’t help but noticed the amount of stores where clothes sizes stop at size 14-16 making it difficult to shop for women like myself. I kind of feel unwelcome to wear their brand as it makes you feel like you have to be thin to wear their products. Then on the occasion I can find a clothing item which I could wear I will then refuse to buy from them because of the discriminative feel I’ve felt before. I primarily wear size 16 clothes but depending on the brand I can wear a 14, sometimes an 18. I have a bit of “mum flab” and I enjoy food but if I feel like this about the availability of clothing sizes in stores I dread to think what other woman must feel like.
This isn’t the case with Simply Be, upon having a mooch around their webpage I was instantly struck and impressed on the availability of clothing sizes, ranging from 8-38 but majority of the range starts from size 10. I instantly felt welcome to the brand. There is also a massive range of products to choose from making shopping easy and fun. The webpage is a doddle to use too making your shopping experience much more enjoyable.
So with my theme for my review being set to Autumn/Winter clothing here is what I choose to review;
I ordered this jacket in a size 18, I do like a big coat where I can layer underneath and it is just fantastic, I’ve been searching high and low for the right jacket for months. I needed a jacket which was waterproof and help keep me warm on the chilly but not freezing cold mornings where my normal winter coat would be too warm. This really has ticked those boxes.
The outer layer is made of Polyurethane making it waterproof, it feels so soft on your hands too. Where as the inner layer and hood layer is made of Polyester which complements the jacket wonderfully. I’ve also found it’s not breatheable, helping hold the warmth in on the cool mornings where a full winter coat would be just too warm.
This jacket also features a concealed zip, hidden by a flap of popper button fastenings, a large hood (perfect for my large head) and large flap pockets.
Although non of my images show the true size of my hood on this jacket I do want to point out that the hood is wonderfully large, making sure you can stay covered in those autumnal rain showers and the flap pockets are big enough to hold your phone, keys and more whilst the flap could protect them from any water damage.
The cuffs of the jacket also have straps on, these are just purely decorative which complements the jacket wonderfully. It’d be nice though to add an extra popper or two just so you can adjust the cuff slightly. But that said, it’s not bad at all.
This Rain Jacket is of the Simply Be own brand, available in 3 colours, black, teal and white and sizes ranging from 12-26.
Amber Pull-On Skinny Jeggings
These leggings are available to buy in 3 different lengths, short, regular or long, I’m a regular leg. I was instantly taken with the softness feel of the denim material, they are made from cotton, polyester and elastane making them stretchy and comfortable to wear. The feature a small coin pocket on the front and 2 large pockets on the bottom, the waist is stretchy so there is no need for a zip or fastening either.
I was super impressed with the feel of the Jeggings upon my first inspection, I do love a good pair of soft feel jeggings to keep my comfortable. Unfortunately the sizing of these jeggings I feel are a little out, I usually buy a size 14-16 depending on brand but for these I’d definitely need a size 18 as the waist was just so tight. I’d defiantly recommend looking a size above for these, but that said I know with a little weight loss I’d be very happy with these as I liked the material and finish.
As mentioned earlier these Amber Pull On Skinny Jeggings are available to buy in 3 lengths and sizes ranging from 10-32 but also a range of colours black, dark indigo, grey and mid blue.
Joe Browns Carefree Knit Jumper
I’ve really saved my favourite clothing item for last, I am just a huge lover of knitwear and from Joe Brown I have found my newest favourite jumper! Autumn and winter really is all about the knit for me and this jumper has been welcomed perfectly into my collection.
This snuggly jumper features a V neck and oversized hood for that relaxed effect. The blue marl print adds a brilliant contrast whilst the waistline detailing finishes the item off wonderfully.
I have found I can wear this jumper without layering but I prefer to wear it with a dark blue T-shirt to work well with the overall colouring.
This Joe Brown Carefree Knit Jumper is only available in this one colour, and ranging in sizes 12/14 to 32/34.
I really have been impressed with my experience with Simply Be, the Rain Jacket And Jumper have been true to size and comfortable where as I’d recommend in buying a size above for the Amber Pull On Jeggings.
I am looking forward to shopping again with Simply Be and shall be returning to shop again very soon.
