#Blogtober2018 Day 4 : What I’m Giving Up For October

Welcome to my Day 4 of #Blogtober. Today is National Poetry Day, poetry has never been a strong point of mine whatsoever, to the point I really struggle to understand it. So I’m going to actually give it a swerve and talk about something different today.
Since my diagnosis with Endometriosis, PCOS and subsequent problems with fertility I’ve pretty much given up looking after my body. I do very little exercise, I eat what I want with very little care and I drink alcohol most nights. I have a serious love relationship with food, I see it, I like it, I eat it. Its always been my problem, I have no will power to stay away or just wait until tea time instead of having that snack.
Now after years of doing this it has now reached its limit, coupled with treatments I have been going through with the hospital I have just simply put on too much weight. I refuse to buy my wardrobe in a size bigger and I need to gain control before its too late.

What I’m Giving Up…

To help me feel more committed to my health I am turning to my blog for inspiration and my readers for support. I know I can loose weight, and I can loose weight well, I have done it before and I can do it again. I can usually do it just making better decisions and changes.

So here’s what I’m going to do for the rest of October;

Alcohol – I’m going dry! There’s no more alcohol for me whatsoever this month, I actually hope this is something I can continue for longer than the month as I know I do feel much better all round without having a drink the night before. I feel more alert, less “foggy” and more energetic.

Crisps – I absolutely LOVE crisps, these are my life nemesis. I like crisps because of their crunch and saltyness but they need to go! For October at least.

Chocolate – Now don’t get me wrong, I like chocolate just like the next person but I have never eaten much of it. I can easily go weeks without chocolate but this past 48 hours i’ve had a giant Kit-Kat and a Cadbury Dairy Milk… my body seems to be shouting and craving it… it’s got to go!

Bread – Well toast to be exact, I love nothing more than 2 slices of white toast in the morning with margarine. I know that’s going to become an issue tomorrow morning so I’m going to SWAP my white bread for wholemeal and just keep to 2 slices a day.

Takeaway food – Yep, this is the main crux of my problem. Because we are a busy family, 3-4 of our weekly evenings are taken up with archery commitments. I feed the kids before we go but I usually wait until we get home for my tea, of which can be 8-9pm and the last thing I want to do is cook. So you guessed it, we fall into the local Chinese take away, armed with my chicken and mushroom curry (or sweet and sour chicken) with egg fried rice and spare ribs we head home to eat. We do this weekly, easily!

So this morning, I have declared war against my excess weight and armed with a truck load of fruit and veg from Aldi I am heading towards a healthier Bex. I’m going to manage my time better and hopefully (fingers crossed) have some tea with the kids before Archery so I don’t pig out on the way home.

    Well done! I struggle with menopausal weight gain and my weaknesses are alcohol and crisps. I’m not a chocolate fan but my husband is and recently I’ve become a bit addicted to bread and butter. Wishing you well on this mission.

      Omg, I could just eat bread and butter. We share cravings!

    Oh you sound just like me, but I dread the thought of going dry for October. Saying that I have cut down from drinking every night to just drinking on Friday and Saturday night… I need something to look forward to 😉 I wish you so much luck with your goal – you’ll smash it x

    Good Luck, I think you have a great plan, just cutting out certain things can make a big difference.

    Wishing you the best of luck.
    Have you tried fruit crisps or something like that which is a little healthier. You could get your crisp fix and something sweet fix to replace the chocolate. x

    Good luck with your weight loss plans. I’ve been battling my weight my whole life so I know how you feel. It’ll be nice to see you posting about how well you’ve done at the end of the month and how much better you feel for making the changes 🙂
