Introducing Bex – BlogOnToys
On Sunday 16th September I will be attending my first blogging conference in over 2 years. I cannot WAIT!
Back when I blogged previously Blog On was my most looked forward to conference of the year, a time to catch up with fellow bloggers who I met very early on in my journey whilst meeting new and alike bloggers. It was also a great time to swat up on my blogging knowledge, learn new skills, gain lots of advice and tips whilst also meeting brands and potential new PRs to work with.
With me returning to blogging recently I soon became aware of Blog On having another conference coming up, and interestingly named BlogOnToys I knew I just had to attend as it would blend in with my blogging theme of “parenting blogging”.
As I briefly mentioned earlier, I cant wait to attend BlogOnToys, I’m really excited but also very nervous all at the same time. It’s been a long time since I blogged previously, that blog also no longer exists so I need to rebuild it, rebuild my social media following and much more. It’s going to be a long haul but hopefully attending this conference will give me the drive in the right direction, meeting new PR’s, new brands, new and old bloggers.
To get me into the spirit of BlogOn I am taking part in the “introduce yourself linky“, introducing myself to everyone else who is attending and I have been given a series of questions to answer.
So here goes;
• Share a photograph (a recent one so people can recognise you!)
• What is the best thing about blogging?
I’ve always enjoyed the free speech available through blogging, I can express myself a heck of a lot more here than I can in normal day to day conversations. I can get quite anxious speaking with people, not being able to summon up what I want to say when I need to say it. With my blog I can relax, take my time over what I am going to say and also ensure that I say it correctly.
I also enjoy having my own space in the t’interweb to jot down what we’ve been up to, easy for my family and friends to keep tracks on our adventures.
• What was your dream job when you were growing up?
I don’t think I ever had a dream job aspiration as a kid, I always remember I never had the best grades at Secondary School and wanted to do Business Administration as a GCSE but had to settle for Health & Social Care in the end. I then made it my dream to pass a Business Administration course, going college to complete my Level 1 course and then a Level 2 in a Modern Apprenticeship. I worked really hard to get my results from these courses knowing because my grades were low it was going to be tough but i succeeded and have always been proud of myself for doing that.
• What is your lucky number?
Actually don’t have one.
• What is your favourite season?
I just love Spring, not that we tend to see much of Spring anymore. We usually just jump from Winter to Summer nowadays. Second favourite has to be Autumn with the change in colours from green to orange/brown… just don’t like the mud haha.
• If you had to choose one what would your favourite dish from the Chinese be?
This has to be the trickiest question of them ALL! I would absolutely LIVE of Chinese Food if I could. I love Crispy Beef Cantonese Style at the moment, with either Plain Noodles or Egg Fried Rice and Dry Spare Ribs with Lemon.
• What is your useless talent?
I know everyone must have some sort of useless talent but I really can’t think right now what I would say is my useless talent… I’ll have a think!
• If you could keep any animal as a pet what would you choose?
I always wanted a Marmoset, a cute little monkey, to like with my other cute little monkeys! Haha
• Which one meal would you eat forever? (If you had to choose one!)
OMG! Japanese food, Sushi for sure!
• What is the last thing you check before you lock your front door?
That I have my house keys in my hand so I know I can get in through the front door, downside to having a Yale lock front door.
• If you won £50,000 what would be the first thing you would buy?
A house, definitely a house… well a deposit for a house anyway. Sick of living in rented accommodation, I want my own place to call home.
• What is your favourite social media channel?
I think it’s got to be Twitter, light hearted tweeting, talking nonsense and just being social. Facebook is the route of all evils.
• Tell us more about your best ever holiday
Tenerife, in my previous blogging days I won a 5 night stay in Tenerife. Flights, hotel, food, car hire, everything was sorted and paid for for us. We had the most AMAZING 5 nights of our lives. The kids then aged 6 and 3 enjoyed every minute.
• Name one cake you rock at baking
Easy, rock cakes! Seriously, I’m no good at baking, I can ruin cornflakes!
• Which session are you most looking forward to?
Two sessions really stick our right now, Blogmin (Blog Admin) with Emily Leary, I really want to some tips on keeping on top of my admin this time round, ensuring I stay afloat and not drown.
Secondly, Understanding The Toy Industry With Vicki Marler-Hansen, being a parent blogger from time to time I hope to be reviewing toys so it’s important to know how to approach PRs, the correct timings and seasons to be working towards – I’ve already learnt that Christmas is already over and done with (*shock!!).
• What is your favourite book ever?
I love a good book, I really do and I feel really sad admitting this here. But I think my favourite all time book(s) has to be the Harry Potter Collection, my childhood in books but I am also loving reliving my childhood re-reading them now with my children!
