Brantano Avington Hayes Boots : Review
Recently I can’t help but notice that the mornings have got chillier, there is a dew on our lawn and that I am finding I am needing a coat on the school run. Winter is on its way. Also my wardrobe is changing, gone are my summer maxi dresses, my cropped leggings, sleeveless t-shirts and sandals. Instead in comes my jeans, long sleeve t-shirts, woolly jumpers and winter boots. It’s no secret I do like the cooler mornings, the cooler days and the colours of autumn, I like wearing tights to keep my legs warm and keeping wrapped up in knitted jumpers. I also love wearing tall knee high boots, thick boots with fur linings perfect for keeping my toes warm on the cold morning walks to and from school. To help in my mission for style, comfort and warmth this winter Brantano have offered for me to review a pair of winter boots and these Avington Hayes boots have ticked every box.
The outer material of these boots are made from Soft Black Suede which really does compliment the fur material covering the whole inside of the boot from shin to little toe with the hand crafted stitch detailing really does add a lovely touch. Finishing off the boots fully is the lace working its way up from the ankle of the boot to the top of the shin which really does make for an eye catching boot.
These boots provide a 1.5inch heel (4cm) which is perfect for someone like me who is terrible at walking in heels and with the added brown speckle detail to the sole makes these boots really attractive. Finished off with a signature Clarks suede patch in the middle of the foot and brown stitch detailing around the outer area of the sole compliments the overall design wonderfully.
I couldn’t wait to try them on…
Upon immediately trying on my new boots I can already tell you my feet are going to keep warm on those bitter winter mornings, the inner fur lining is just amazing and with it being so thick it means that no heat from my toes will be lost. I am a size 8 foot an these boots are true to their sizing and only available in a standard width sizing, depending on the brand of shoe I tend to be a wide foot but there are no issues with these boots at all. They are easy to put on and take off, the lace i recommended undoing and redoing when you put the boots on just to allow extra room for the heel of your foot and to save any struggling.
For me ultimate comfort and practicality has to come from the flat heel and the cushion plus technology sole. Being 5ft7″ tall I find I don’t need a heel and having long legs really doesn’t help either. When it comes to winter style and wearing skirt/tight or legging combinations I do find I need a long boot which that make my legs look shorter but also keeps my thighs warm in the brisk winter air. My only slight issue with these boots is that they are advertised as a knee high boot but you can clearly tell they are not, mid length definitely, but not knee high. That said though I still love my new boots, they are certainly going to be making plenty of appearances this winter.
I have now worn these boots most days, for either school runs, autumnal walks and also a brisk dog walk at the weekend when it rained. In the rain the boots really did get put through an ultimate test, and they still look great now for unfortunately they offer little water protection and I soon had soggy toes. I just need to remember to wear these boots in fine weather as they seemed rather absorbent.
Brantano Shoes offer a wide range of ladies boots for this coming winter, these Avington Hayes boots from Clarks are priced at £100 and available to buy now with free shipping for orders over £35.
