An Evening With Novello Lounge, Southwater Telford
Over the past couple of years there have been some major redevelopments over at my local Town Centre in Telford. I vaguely remember the old Southwater area tending to shy away from it as it really was dreary and uninviting. But now the whole area has been massively improved and it now welcomes streams of people with bars, restaurants, library, coffee houses and cinema, Telford now has a nightlife.
One of the newest places to open is Novello Lounge, a home from home lounge bar which is so warm and inviting for guests of all ages… and our canine companions.
I was invited along to the grand opening of Novello Lounge last week with a +1, so myself and Emilia from MrsEmH Blog got our glad rags on and headed into town. Part of the Loungers Group founded in 2002 there are a wide range of bars throughout the country.
Not being overly sure which building we would find Novello Lounge we were immensely surprised to find it was in the newest of the builds which only the week before still looked no where near complete so this was a lovely surprise. Outside really looks clean, bright and inviting and with the outdoor seating area too.
Inside really does have that lounge appeal, described to me as a Grandads lounge, it certainly does feel like that. All of the Loungers Bars appear to have a similar décor really giving a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Around the edges of the room you can find sofas, lounge seats to relax and unwind in whilst the walls are wonderfully decorated with framed photos and mirrors. Myself I was taken by the lighting and the lampshades, really did take me back to my young years and visiting my grandparents houses.
Upon choosing our table and taking a seat I started to take a look through the menus, of which there is a great extensive menu for the adult loungers choosing from brunch, sandwiches, salads, traditional main courses, burgers and tapas. Each option just as appetising as the next. There is also a gluten free and vegetarian menus available.
For the kids there is a little loungers menu, which is great for kids of all ages offering some traditional kids meals but also some great little extras such as Avacado Brunch (Toasted ciabatta, topped with avacado, egg and tomato) and Cheese toastie with baked beans and chips.
The opening event took place on a Wednesday evening from 6-8pm, and during this time we were invited to try a range of Tapas foods from the kitchen and various soft/alcoholic drinks from the bar. We enjoyed trying a good range of tapas some of which you can see in the pictures below. Samples to try included, patatas bravas with roasted garlic mayo, Hummus with extra virgin olive oil and paprika, Chorizo with garlic, red onion and red wine, honey-glazed shredded five spice pork and more, all served with sliced warm ciabatta bread to enjoy.
During the course of the evening I spotted a couple of tweets from Sally Akins who also seemed to be in the building but waiting for a table, so I arranged for a couple of chairs to be found so that Sally and her husband could join us for a bite to eat and a catch up.
Myself and Emilia left at about 7.30 after enjoying our evening and chat by which the lounge was absolutely heaving full of people enjoying their evenings and opening night celebrations. Over the coming weeks I am looking forward to returning to Novello Lounge and enjoying more tapas with my husband, and with a great price of 3 for £9.95 its a great way of trying a range of tapas foods. I also really like the sound of the Miso Salad so I may be back sooner than I thought!
Novello Lounge is open daily from 9am, located at Meeting Point House just by the Southwater multi story car park.
**This is not a sponsored post, I was invited along to Novello Lounge for their open night and to sample the tapas menu with drinks. All words and opinions are my own.
