Poppy Field – 9/07/2016

Linking up to this weeks Point + Shoot with SnowingIndoors & YouBabyMeMummy and My Sunday Photo with Photalife from a Poppy Field somewhere in Shropshire.

Poppy Field 6-7-16-4659-1-2

Last year I completed 2 camera courses, learning how to control my camera in full Manual, since then I have never looked back. I love the control, flexibility and also knowing what makes a camera click. Since the course I am a member of a local photographers group on Facebook, its great getting insight to what people like photographing, sharing hints and tips and looking at local locations to me. So a fortnight ago when a member shared a photo of a poppy field they had come across I just KNEW I had to visit, lucky for me too that it was only 10 minutes away from my house. Sadly a fractured ankle put a stop to my visit for a while but this week I have found myself with some mobility and being able to drive again. So on Wednesday evening (after Slimming World), armed with my camera I headed out in search and what I found was absolutely amazing. I arrived at 9.20pm which was a little too late as the sun was setting and there were too many clouds so I had to bump up my ISO a little too much for my liking. I do intend to revisit again when the weather is a little nicer and we have some blue stuff in the sky.

A solitary poppy will go on show inside the centre itself to remember the unknown Welsh Guards soldier who died during the Battle of the Somme in September 1916. Visitors can also learn more about the fusiliers at the centre as poems and letters written from the period are on show.

I can understand your disappointment at the light but I actually think this works really well. The poppies are vibrant and the darker, broody sky reflects our thoughts when we see a field of poppies. Delight at their beauty and deep sadness at what they represent. Beautiful photo. #MySundayPhoto

That is an amazing picture. The contrast of the sky (with its amazing patterns) works really well againt the colours of the poppies. Love it. #MySUndayPhoto
