The Damaged Ankle Update – Day 4, 5 & 6

Friday

Today was an utterly crap day, I was fed up being restricted, fed up being trapped indoors and feeling sluggish and slow. I had to get out of the house if just for an hour or two, instead of taking Leah to nursery we headed up to town instead where we picked up her new school uniform. I didn’t plan our outing very well as I knew I had to be home in time for Lewis to be home from school but I’d also brought my small backpack out with us and with no way of me carrying shopping and Leah moaning her Shopkins were heavy we were soon home again.

From that outing I took my boot off, I can’t cope with the restrictions it is putting on me. Tonight I had hubby take us all out for dinner, I seriously need cheering up and also a trip to Boots to buy a new ankle support.

Saturday

Today I am sporting my new ankle support, and my ankle feels SO much better with that rather than my boot. I am still using crutches, determined to build strength again rather than just run straight into it but it feels so much nicer being able to move and the pain is so much better. A friend came by this morning, collected myself and the kids for an outing to the cinema and lunch in town. With my new support and crutches I felt a lot better getting about, very little pain and just walking carefully being careful not to upset the injury.

Tonight I am walking carefully around the house without my crutches at all, hoping in the next couple of days I will trust my ankle enough to reduce my need for them.

My foot physically by sight is wonderfully bruised (foot picture alert) and there is still some pretty impressive swelling but I am feeling a lot happier from 48 hours earlier.

Sunday

Today will most likely be last update, partly because I am now well on my way to recovery and also I don’t think many are reading. This week has been a very turbulent week, in ways I felt stripped of my freedom, being confined to a stupid boot and crutches. Not being able to get about freely, care for our house and even the lack of ability to drive my car has really got me down. This morning I have been determined to get about a bit more, I’ve managed to take the kids to the local BMX track by foot, with crutches but I have found I didn’t really need them as much as I’ve needed them the past few days. Since then I have driven my car to our local supermarket to pick up supplies for a lovely Sunday dinner this afternoon. Driving was something I was rather scared of but I found it to be rather painless, I just need to ensure I am gentle with my foot but I am glad I have managed to drive again.

When I started typing these blog posts a couple of days ago I really didn’t think I’d be where I am right now, Tuesday and Wednesday were absolutely awful where I couldn’t put weight on my foot at all but 5 days later I am feeling really positive. I am still sore, but now I feel like I have a really bad sprain which I manageable if I take it easy.

    You poor thing! I know that has to be painful, but I’m glad to see that you’re doing better! Keep it up!

    Glad you’re getting better but it still looks so sore. Make sure your not doing too much. I still have issues from a really bad sprain over 5 years ago as I didn’t let it heal properly xx

    Don’t overdo it Hun! Ligament damage can be worse than broken bone, I know that
