Enjoying Sparkling Water With Ugly Drinks : Review
I really do like my fizzy drinks and some really do come with a price as they are usually high in sugars or contain sweeteners or artificial flavourings which can be rather unhealthy. Thankfully I was recently contacted by UGLY Drinks to try out their range of sparkling flavoured waters. They contain all the flavour, all the fizz but contains no sugars, sweeteners or artificial flavourings and because of this they are also free of calories!
Behind the brand are two young entrepreneurs, Hugh Thomas and Joe Benn who have worked in the drinks industry for 4 years. They know all there is to know about the drinks market and were eager to build a brand of fizzy drinks which are free from sugars and sweeteners.
Hugh, Co-Founder of Ugly says, “Like many people, we were tired of drinks packed full of sugar or sweeteners. So, we decided to take matters into our own hands and create an entirely unsweet, naturally infused sparkling water range, with nothing to hide. Ugly water doesn’t promise to make you faster, smarter or more beautiful but it’s all-natural and tastes great, a refreshing change to traditional fizzy drinks.”
We were sent 2 flavours to try out, Lemon & Lime and Grapefruit & Pineapple both are in very bright and eye catching cans. Perfect for outings and with their foil sealed lids they stay hygienic. Because they are cans they also keep extra cool in the fridge, perfect for keeping hydrated in the heat of summer
Because these products contain nothing sweet the taste isn’t sweet at all, it really does taste how you’d expect flavoured water to be.
I have tried both the flavours, and I must admit I much preferred the Lemon & Lime to the Grapefruit and Pineapple. The Grapefruit and Pineapple has a rather tropical taste about it, but I really don’t think the mix of flavours is quite right. Where as the Lemon and Lime is perfect and refreshing, just like a lemonade.
These products are available to buy now from Selfridges, Whole Foods Market and other leading independent stores. With an RRP of 99p for a 330ml can I think they are relatively reasonably priced.
