My Sunday Photo – Astley Hall, Chorley – 15/05/2016

I am linking up this week to My Sunday Photo with Phot A Life with this photo (and also Point & Shoot with Snowing Indoors/You Baby Me Mummy);

My Sunday Photo 15-5-16

On Friday I took a very exciting road trip to the North West, I went to visit an old school friend and her family who were visiting the UK from USA. I hadn’t seen Holly for over 3 years and since I last saw her she’d had her first child so I enjoyed some baby snuggles and the baby adored playing with Leah, it was lovely to watch them play nicely together.

As the weather was nice we decided to head out on a picnic, armed with our meal deals from Tesco we headed to Astley Park, Chorley. It was a slightly chilly day but we didn’t let it spoil our outing, the sky was lovely and the sun was shining, that’s all we needed.

Sadly the inside of Astley Hall was closed the day of our visit, I do like having a good ol’ nosey at old buildings. From my knowledge (and a little help of Wiki) this building was constructed in 1570-1575 and has numerous owners over the centuries but has been owned by Chorley Borough Council since 1922. It is now open to the public for viewing and also can be rented for functions. Weddings here seem quite popular and given the amount of land surrounding this building and that wonderful water feature I can see why!

      We certainly do, I do enjoy going to Astley Park when I’m in the area just to photograph the hall.
