My Day At Blog On MSI 2016
Bank holiday weekends are for relaxing – well at least thats what someone once told me. They are for pottering around the house doing random jobs and having a good break.
Well not for me they aren’t… last weekend was absolutely exhausting! Good fun from start to finish but exhausting.
You will find out what happened on the Saturday in another blog post coming soon but on the Sunday (after a very late night) I woke at 5am to drive to Manchester with Beth from Twinderelmo and Emma from The Cheshire Wife for my 4th attendance at Blog On MSI!
This conference really has gone from strength to strength and every year just gets better and better.
Having driven 2 hours from Shropshire we arrived rather early and were greeted by Laura who then allowed us to relax in the main conference room before the event started.
This year the conference was crammed with brands from regular faces such as Hotter Shoes, Black Sheep Wools and Swizzles Matlow but there was many new faces such as Sambro, Brainstorm Toys and much more.
As per all years there are various groups to attend, informative sessions about all things “blog”. Sessions I chose to attend this year were Creative Photography, Design and Branding with Conker Communications, Content Ideas that inspire with I-Com and YouTube with Channel Mum. I particularly found the Design and Branding discuss informative as it was good to get some inside knowledge on what PR’s look for in a blog with regards to design and layout. At the moment my blog is going through an overhaul and redesign so I’ve been given plenty of tips on what I need to be paying particular attention to which is great. The Content Ideas that inspire was quite informative, helping with some web based tools for monitoring my blog a bit more and also gaining help with keywords for my posts for a larger reach in sharing. Sadly I didn’t particularly enjoy the other discussions as they weren’t technical at all and seemed to focus on self-advertisement.
Next up its only fair I talk CAKE, oh and marshmallows. This year the cake was provided by PomPom WOW! A gorgeous multicoloured cake which multicolour sponge middle. Where as these gorgeous marshmallows were provided by Cookies N Fluff a range of gorgeous tasting marshmallows to try out, I particularly liked the mint.
Whilst on my wander around the various stalls at Blog On I came across Anki Overdrive, this new and revolutionised version of Scalelxtric. The track is made of a flexi-plastic, held together by magnets and the track has a special pattern printed onto it which the cars can follow using their sensors on the base. You car is then controlled with a smart device allowing you to accelerate, switch lanes and even boot other drivers off the track. It really does sound like something too good to think about but it really does work!
All in all another fantastic event, good brands, semi-good discussions, good food, good company and an epic goody bag, raffle and tombola.
Thank you once again Blog On Conferences and I look forward to coming back again for my 5th year!
Come back again soon to find out what I particularly liked most about my goodies I took home.
