Record breaking attendance at Drayton Manor’s fireworks spectacular!
Drayton Manor Theme Park closed its 65th anniversary season in style with a record breaking attendance at its War of the Worlds fireworks spectacular weekend, welcoming nearly 33,000* visitors over three days.
The Staffordshire based attraction hosts an annual fireworks finale; but this year proved to be bigger and better than ever, with a 28% increase in number of visitors compared to the previous largest fireworks attendance at Drayton Manor. The park hosted a trio of spine tingling displays on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October, and Sunday 1st November.
Joining forces with Fantastic Fireworks, industry expert and winner of the 2015 British Fireworks Championship, the park ended its landmark 2015 season with a bang, setting off the largest volume of fireworks ever. Set to the critically acclaimed soundtrack from The War of the Worlds, visitors were dazzled by a fantastic, colourful array of explosive rockets and lights. This meant that it wasn’t just a record breaking attendance but it was also the largest firework display the park has seen in 25 years.
A whole host of rides remained open until 9pm so visitors could continue the fun into the evening. Europe’s first stand-up rollercoaster, Shockwave, the drop-tower Apocalypse, and Air Race, which takes riders on an aerial adventure, were amongst those open until late so riders could enjoy the thrills in the dark, to add to the experience.
The newly expanded Thomas Land™, home to over 25 rides and attractions based on the ever popular Thomas & Friends™ series, was a hit with younger visitors during the day before the main event.
Colin Bryan, CEO of Drayton Manor Theme Park said: “We wanted to end our 65th anniversary season with a bang. It was such a wonderful turnout, 2015 has been a truly special year for the Bryan family and the team here have worked incredibly hard to put on one of the best fireworks displays in the park’s history.”
The park will be open this Christmas for their award winning Magical Christmas event on selected dates from 21st November.
