Octonauts Octopod Playset : Review
My kids really enjoy watching Octonauts on TV, it’s been one of their favourites from a very young age. They enjoy watching the adventures of Captain Barnacles and his crew in the ocean, exploring, rescuing, protecting all the sea creatures.
Recently we have been testing out a great toy, the Octonauts Octopod Playset from Fisher Price..
Recommended for children aged 3+, this toy is great for introducing your child to their first underwater adventures with Captain Barnacles and Kwazii. Contents of this kit include;
- 1x Octopod
- 1x Captain Barnacles figure
- 1x Kwazii figure
- 1x GUP-A
- 4x Rescue Tools
- 3x Sea Creatures, Eel, Crab and Turtle
This set was very easy to construct ready for play. First start by attaching the pod’s slides to the side of the Octopod. These attachments work on a “one-time snaps” system, meaning once they are in place you won’t be able to remove them again.
Next up we attached the stickers to the correct pods. The main pod area was simple to sticker but you need to pay close attention to the 4 external pods as the plastic is designed for a particular room. But once the stickers are in place the rooms look more inviting and ready for our adventures.
Then we needed to sort out our rescue tools, again each tool is designed for a particular pod and you will see each tool is again labelled for a particular room. There’s a yellow “wooden” pallet for the Medical Pod, a red “wicker” basket for the Kitchen Pod, brown “wooden” barrel for Kwazii’s pod and lastly a grey “anchor” for Captain Barnacles pod. Each tool attach to their corresponding pod using the easy clip system, this is idea for also levering animals onto the Octopod.
Last but not least we needed to attach the OctoAlert feature to the top of the Octopod. This alert features 10 sounds and phrases from your children’s favourite show and run’s on 3x “AG13 (LR44) batteries which are included. Underneath the alert is a clip, so your child can take the alert out and about with them for more on the go adventures.
At the end of setting this up, I had 2 very eager testers sat anxiously by my side ready to dive in and begin their adventures. They immediately got to work sounding the OctoAlert, sending Kwazii down the slide into the launch bay to begin a rescue mission in the GUP-A. Using the hatch in the base of the launch bag, Kwazii and the GUP-A can be launched into the ocean by a twist of the handle.
I have done a short video of this great Octonauts toy, showing you how all of this set works which you will find at the bottom of this review.
The Octonauts Octopod Playset is available to buy from many high street stores or online with an RRP of £39.99.
