Taking part in the #Walk500 Charity Challenge with HF Holidays
Its no secret, we really are an outdoorsy family and we love getting out and about. So be it we spend majority of our time walking around theme parks, and other child friendly locations but we also enjoy seeing the sights of where we live, one place we really enjoy getting out to is The Wrekin just outside Telford, Shropshire. Only a mile from our home we enjoy walking up the hill, having a picnic, taking photos and generally having close family time.
With HF Holidays, we have taken part in the #Walk500 Charity Challenge.

Put your best foot forward and take the #Walk500 charity challenge with HF Holidays
Big-hearted walking holiday provider, HF Holidays, is encouraging you to step right up and take part in its #Walk500 miles challenge to help raise money for the UK’s number one heart charity, The British Heart Foundation.
With the summer heatwave still to kick in, you don’t need to worry as there’s not an ice bucket challenge in sight. The activity holiday company is simply asking people to do as The Proclaimers classic song, I’m Gonna Be, suggests and put their best foot forward to walk just one mile each towards the 500 mile target.
Armed with cameras or smartphones in hand to record or photography their attempt, participants are asked to share their walk highlights on HF Holidays’ Facebook www.facebook.com/hfholidays.co.uk or on Twitter mentioning @hfholidays with #Walk500, just tag three or more friends to spread the word, and make a donation to The British Heart Foundation via www.justgiving.com/walk500withhfholidays or text HFHW50 £3 to 70070.
In addition to donations from charitable members of the public, HF Holidays has also committed to donating £5 for every mile walked up the 500 mile target.
Whether you want to keep it simple and go it alone, use it as an excuse to catch up with friends, moonwalk a mile, walk on your hands, or don fancy dress whilst undertaking the #Walk500 challenge, it’s up to you. Similarly, whether you have fields, hills, parks, footpaths, shopping centres, high streets or even supermarkets on your doorstep – they’re all great locations you can step right up to and help go the extra mile for this fantastic charity.
Jim Forward, Chief Executive at HF Holidays comments: “The British Heart Foundation is such an inspirational charity and does so much to help the millions of people in the UK that are living with cardiovascular disease.
“We feel a great synergy with the charity as walking is very good for the heart and regular walking can really help to improve your health and reduce the risk of heart disease* so we wanted to do something to show our support and help raise money for the vital work it does.
“But more than that, we want the #Walk500 challenge to inspire people to get outside and get walking! As well as being fun and a fantastic way to explore, it’s also a great way to keep active and stay healthy, regardless of age or agility, and it’s great for the heart and soul.
“We are hoping to walk further than 500 miles but we wanted to set ourselves a challenge to begin with.”
