Fiesta Del Asado Restaurant : Review
I love eating out, and eating out with friends I certainly don’t do enough of. So when I was invited along to Fiesta Del Asado, Argentinian Restaurant in Birmingham I knew I needed to bring a friend along for a good natter and share our thoughts of our meals. So last Wednesday I visited Erica who lives locally to the area, picked her up and headed over to Fiesta Del Asado for a lunchtime meal.
Located on a very busy but very popular Hagley Road, Edgbaston it didn’t take too long to find where we needed to be and after parking up safely I was able to take in the sights of the outside of Fiesta Del Asado. The outside of the property is well kept, presentable and clean and there are 2 rather small car parks to the front and the rear of the property, I did notice just how tight manoeuvring space is for guests during the course of our stay.
Upon entry we were immediately greeted and shown to our table, again the clean and well kept theme carried on inside. I was really pleased just how presentable everything was.
The whole building is really well themed in an Argentinian style lots of white and rustic woods, with plenty of themed pictures and displays. This theme even continued into the bathrooms which were exceptionally clean and well decorated.
This is the bit your really interested in and truth be told I can’t wait to tell you. Even a couple of days later I can mentally still taste the fantastic foods, smell the aromas and crave the meal again. To start with whilst we read the menu we were offered with some Olives and sliced bread with Olive Oil and Vinegar dip both of which were delicious.
- Erica – Bife De Chorizo, cooked Medium with Salad and Veg. Also a side portion of Fries with Parsley and Garlic.
- Myself – Linguine Con Camarones, Tiger Prawns cooked with a Sunblushed Tomato and Garlic Sauce. With a side portion of Fries with Parsley and Garlic sauce and also Spinach cooked with Garlic and Cream.
I really do not know where to begin with just how good our meals were, apart from amazing! Erica was so pleased with her Beef, it looked, smelt and tasted amazing (I pinched a little bit). The steak was cooked to perfection and gave such a smoky Argentinian taste.
My Prawn Linguine was absolutely delightful, I know with some people the sight of prawns with their heads still attached puts them off… for me I am certainly the opposite and this meal exceeded all my expectations. Given this meal was cooked in a tomato and garlic sauce, the garlic certainly wasn’t overpowering and accompanied the tomato perfectly.
The side dishes were also delightful, the chips were well cooked and serves with the parsley and garlic made for a wonderful flavouring. Whilst the Spinach with Garlic and Cream was absolutely divine, not too rich and portioned just right.
After our yummy meals, I was feeling rather full (I did pack away a bit there didn’t I?!) so I had to keep puddings low so opted for a selection of Ice Cream’s whilst Erica ordered the Orange Pancakes with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream.
Both puddings were really delicious, the tastes were lovely but we were both stumbled by the thickness of the Ice Cream. It was certainly really really creamy which is something we were both not expecting nor experienced before either. With that said they were very lovely.
During our stay we were made to feel exceptionally welcome, the staff were friendly although rather quiet and I could see this being a problem on a busy evening. We really did have a lovely time and would recommend visiting Fiesta Del Asado if you are in the area!
Fiesta Del Asado is open weekdays for lunch between 12pm-3pm and evening meals from 5.30pm-11pm, whilst at weekends open from midday-11pm.
