Cooking With Kids : Tortilla Pizzas
I am not usually one for getting my children involved with cooking, for the main reason… I really don’t enjoy cooking. During the holidays though Lewis and I have done a fair bit of baking, too the point I’ve licked one too many cake mix bowls. We even managed to make some sandwiches together at a PR event on Friday. So today I needed to change our session, I let Lewis prepare his tea with the added help from Leah.
Tonight we made Tortilla Pizza’s.
I will confess now that I gained my information for doing this through a facebook share this morning and thought it’d be a perfect replacement for cake baking. Lewis does enjoy pizza’s.
All you need are tortilla wraps, tomato purée, grated cheese and a topping of your choice.
They are super simple and great for kids to make. Using a biscuit cutter cut circles into the tortilla and place them in the holes of a cupcake tin tray. Spread a small amount of tomato purée onto each tortilla circle, then place grated cheese on each circle and decorate with topping as you wish.
Then back in the oven for about 10 minutes, I cooked them on a gas mark 6 until the cheese was starting to brown and before the edges of the tortilla bases began to burn.
These would be perfect for home-made mini pizza’s for parties or even snacking. They taste lovely cold!
I’d never make it as a food blogger but I wanted to share this with you as I think they are a fab idea for kids to be involved with preparing their own meals.
