Blog on MOSI – 2013
O….M…..G!!!!! Where to start?!
Today has by far got to be a complete eye opener for me into the world of blogging, I have learnt so so much and met SO many wonderful and friendly bloggers today.
Firstly, I’d like to thank Manchester Museum of Science and Industry for offering such a splendid location for our event and wonderful refreshments. Without them who knows where we would have been today, but certainly would not have been able to beat anything they provided for us, so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Secondly and most importantly, a huge and mahhooosive (!!!!!!!!!) THANK YOU to Laura Seaton, (aka Tired Mummy Of Two / Blogs Up North). Who without her today would never have happened what so ever, I wouldn’t have learnt so much and to be quite honest I would have quite possibly given up blogging sometime ago! So from the bottom of my heart Laura, thank you so so much and I hope you enjoy your gifts from all of us, you deserve them!
Soooo, back to today!
After an insanely early start, for a Sunday, I arrived into Manchester Deansgate and met Amanda (@lifewithasd) and Angela (@Ang_thisislife) and walked to MOSI, 2 very friendly and welcoming women. I also learnt that Amanda, like me, has also been blogging a couple of months.
We arrived at MOSI, where we were issued badges to introduce ourselves to other people with a coloured sticker on. After a brief doodling session, designing my badge I met up with Tina (@TheMotherGeek) and had a wander around, entering the raffle and meeting people from various brands.
I particularly enjoyed talking with Legoland, purely due my recent addiction to Lego… or should I say my sons love for Technic Lego, which he is too young to build and I have to do for him! I learnt that one kit we own and I am currently building is from 1993!
I also met people from Laithwaites Wines, Clic Sargent, Sealife Centre Manchester, Kaleidoscope, Hillary’s Blinds, The Essential One, Swizzels Matlow, Vitamix, Sodastream and Black Sheep Wool.
The timetable for events today was really well organised, first of all at 11am we had an Introduction and Photography session with Laura and John (@floyduk), I really learnt alot from the photography session and hoping to put my new tips into some use in the near future (hoping the husband reads this and buys me a swanky new camera for my photography).
Next it was the 1st session of which I attended “Building Relationships” with Cat, Liz and Dan from Push On. I’m so glad I attended this session first as a beginner I really feel I have learnt some really useful tips on liaising with PR’s and Brands.
Next it was lunch, and another oppourtunity to mingle with brands….. or sample a few Soda Stream drinks as I did, throughout the day I tried, Cola, Lemon and Lime, Pink Grapefruit, Elderflower and Mojito. Of which I actually can’t decide which was my favourite, I really enjoyed them all.
After lunch I attended the “Beautiful Blogging” session with Helen & Annie. I found this session informative but at times rather confusing as parts of this session did focus on WordPress blogs. But from this session I learnt that to gain blog love for myself I need to be visiting other blogs (as I already do) but leaving comments (which I don’t *epic fail moment*) as leaving comments promotes my blog to then encourage people to visit my blog and do the same.
Then we had another break, to mingle with brands and other bloggers. Of which attended my colour session and tried my hand at Crochet, and came home with a ball of wool and a crochet needle and I am looking forward to attempting again!
Then was time for our 3rd and final session “Law & Lies” with Mummy Barrow, Emily and Rahul (from Carat Media). I was rather sceptical of this group to start off with as I am still so new I thought it would confuse me completely but I found this exceptionally interesting and found that I understood 90% of what was being discussed, this I was happy with.
Finally was our photography roundup and goodbyes talks. Followed by the raffle and collection of our goody bags before departing for home.
My stash of goodies from today’s event.
I am really looking forward to BlogOn2014 now and shall be booking my tickets as soon as they are available!
